I am a product of Wichita County. I was born and raised 17 miles south of town. My great-grandparents, homesteaded ground at what is known as Lydia. I attended the 2 room school, that my Grandma, and Dad both attended (Grand Union). Then after the school was closed I attended R.B. Stewart Elementary. I graduated from WCHS class of '82. I have always wanted to be a teacher, deciding that in Kindergarten. I attended Dodge City Community College to receive my Associate of Arts and McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas to receive my Bachelor of Science. After being hired by Joe Zitnik to teach First and Second grades at High Plains. I taught one year there, then transferred to R.B. Stewart Elementary to teach First Grade. I love my job and am thankful everyday to be able to teach in my hometown. My husband, Gordon and both of my boys -Denton and Layton also graduated from WCHS. They currently work with my dad on the family farm. My interests include: walking, reading, yoga and spending time with my family.
